I thought I would try also to create cover art for each story. These are only rough drafts and would be improved upon later. Click on "read more" to see the summary.
My mother, father, sister, and brother-in-law were going to the beach and I decided to tag along. It was our second visit to Holmes Beach (just south of the mouth of Tampa Bay), but this time we brought chairs. I went exploring.
My family is weird. I had a conversation with my sister about chemistry that ended up yielding a lot of punny material. I cleaned it up and had to alter it a bit to make it make sense, creating the characters Bob and Alice, but it went more or less as you see below. I now present it to you for your amusement.
I was reminded recently of a common attitude I have noticed before. It seems people hate marketing. Why?Lots of people engage in marketing without realizing it, but are then mortified when others compliment them on their marketing. They claim it isn’t marketing, but is what they actually believe and do. Why? Do they think they are being accused of something dishonest? The only thing they do dishonest is when they try to tell people it isn’t marketing when it clearly is! I was recently a witness to such an event and it got me thinking.
The political left complains that America drifts further and further to the right, in that unions are in decline, wealth inequality is on the rise, and the military is ever more entangled in foreign alliances. The political right complains that America drifts further and further to the left, in that the number of regulations and their reach increases, government spending goes up, and people feel ever more entitled to the hard-earned money of others. American Christians complain that more and more God is losing his influence and the culture is ever more depraved. In many circles, it is simply treated as a given – and whenever anyone questions the dogma, they get blank stares if they get any attention at all. Are things really getting worse?
I’m not convinced.
