These flies of the planet Lup have points on either side of the small head that resemble shoulders. The wings attach not at points, but over wider areas, making them less maneuverable than Earth flies, but better able to support their larger weight. Some of the flies of Lup grow to large sizes and are heavily armored. Notice the difference in vein patterns between the front and back wings. For some reason my phone took a lousy picture and I only just noticed it. Number (3) has an elongated thorax and spots on the hind wings. Number (5) has especially awkwardly shaped wings. Someone should remind me to use my scanner to get you a better picture in July.
