Finally, there he was. Nate stood still as the entity who called himself Zynntraxion stepped out of the shadows. Despite Nate’s normally unfazable demeanor, he was unprepared for the sight of him. He had not expected to ever see another human again – particularly one so young.
As Nate took in his appearance, he realized he was looking at a chimera. One cheek had more melanin than the other. On the same side, the hair was strawberry blonde. The legs were of differing lengths. Still, every part was clearly human – and fresh. The entity looked to be barely six years old – all except for the eyes. Nate recognized those eyes. They belonged to Derek.
“Where’s my friend?” Nate demanded.
“Where?” Zynntraxion responded. “Hard to say. Hard to narrow it down to only one location.”
