Cyborgization completely reorganizes the ecosystem and puts everything under the control of a computer program that connects all living things. Organisms with nervous systems and larger than a mouse are imbedded with chips allowing them to communicate directly to any other organism on the planet. In case of war, every organism may be called upon to fight in its own way. On Tolon, many of the cybernetic components are constructed of wood, rather than metal.
In the upper left is a creature that grows by adding on segments of its exoskeleton and stretching its soft inner body along inside of it. When threatened, its inner body can detach and retract towards one end or the other. In the upper middle is a lizard with eyes at the extremities of a hammer-head and nostrils in the middle. The tails are sometimes branched. In the lower left is an arthropod with three body sections, fourteen legs, six eyes, and a stinger. They construct gelatinous hives of every size, shape, and color. There are no passages in the hives; they must "swim" through the jelly. Nearly all animal life on the planet Tolon begins as a mass of undifferentiated tissue laid on the ground or up in the trees. It then buds into several sibling animals starting with the heads as shown on the bottom right.
